Other Works
Outside of music, Bren.d.o has built a deep connection to his Southern Illinois roots. As a local historian and community advocate, he has worked to preserve the legacy of Lakeview Illinois, a historically African-American community founded by formerly enslaved people before the Civil War. His historical work has been featured in regional media and educational programs, including a 2022 WPSD Local 6 segment on Lakeview’s heritage and a 2025 presentation with Illinois Humanities exploring the connections between Lakeview and former Chicago mayor Harold Washington’s family history.
Brendan is also the author of the 2025 novel “Chemical Exposure,” a suspenseful story that blends psychological drama with themes of memory and survival. The book has been made available through major retailers including Barnes & Noble and Amazon.
Earlier in his career, Brendan appeared on MTV’s reality series “When Spicy Meets Sweet” in 2008 — a playful dating show produced in collaboration with Doritos and Viacom. He later worked in project management before returning full-time to creative work in music and writing.
In 2024, under his legal name Brendan H. Jennings, he ran as a Democratic candidate for the Saline County Board in Illinois. That same year, he spoke at an Equality Illinois town hall in Carbondale about LGBTQ+ representation in small-town America, combining his creative and civic passions into one mission — to build connection, inspire progress, and tell stories that matter.
From the stage to the classroom to the community, Bren.d.o continues to push boundaries, redefining what it means to be an artist with roots in the Midwest and a message for the world.
